The home of Santa Barbara Hillel is the Milton Roisman Jewish
Student Center at 781 Embarcadero Del Mar in Isla Vista (for
driving directions click
here). Completed in 2001. It is one of the nicest Hillel
buildings to be found anywhere. Come over and you'll see that
it's true. But, the most important reason to spend time at
the Hillel is that you'll find good people here—at almost
any time. The big crowds are here on Monday nights for the
Kosher Cook-out, and Friday nights for Shabbat. But there
are smaller activities almost every night, and often people
come here just to study or relax.
Here are just a few of the resources you'll find: |
The Milton Roisman Jewish Student Center was
built to be environmentally “friendly.” Bamboo
flooring gives the beauty of hardwood without cutting down
trees. Large windows bring in loads of natural light and allow
us to cool the building with ocean breezes. The linoleum floor,
unlike vinyl, is completely bio-degradable. And the carpeting
is 100% recyclable. Because of all these natural, "green"
building materials, you may notice that the building just
feels healthy. |
