Here is a sampling of some of the programs offered
by Hillel, grouped into five general program areas.
| RECREATION |
- Kosher Cook-out—Every Monday night,
a large crowd gathers at Hillel for a free meal, ping pong,
music blasting and football, basketball or baseball on the
large screen
- Western Collegiate Maccabiah Games—now
in its fourth year, this event brings about 150 Jewish college
athletes to SB for a weekend of fun and competition
- rock climbing
- Kosher Love Luau—a huge single's
night at Hillel, usually a week or two before Valentine's

| SOCIAL ACTION |
- "The Senior Prom"—now
entering its third year, this amazing night brings together
senior citizens from local retirement homes, to dance away
the night with the college students here at Hillel

| SPIRITUALITY/RELIGIOUS LIFE
|
- Shabbat at Hillel—every Friday
night, an average of 175 (and often over 200) gather for
Reform, Conservative or Orthodox services; then we all come
together for a delicious, free kosher dinner.
- Jewish learning for all levels—Talmud
with Rabbi Steve Cohen, Mondays at 5; Basic Judaism for
complete beginners; "Rabbinic Conversations" bringing
the most dynamic and inspiring rabbis from the Los Angeles
area to Santa Barbara;
- Holidays—celebrating life and remembering
the past, all with a college twist: Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur,
Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim, Passover, Shavuot, and all the
others.

| ISRAEL |
- American
Students for Israel—this organization
advocates for fair and balanced treatment of Israel on campus
and in the classroom
- Taglit-birthright Israel Trip—a free,
ten-day trip to Israel with other students from Santa Barbara, if
you have never been on an organized Israel trip before
- Israel Independence Day celebration
- Yom HaZikaron—Israel Memorial Day
